Launching a new website isn’t for sissies!
Well actually, this isn’t really a new website, this is the same decades old InflatableBoats4Less.com the home of Captain Tim and First Mate Crystal’s Mom and Pop boat store. We’ve been around since 1998 and our original website since since 2004 and THAT old website was broken and it was grinding us down! It was way past time for a ground-up rebuilding of InflatableBoats4Less.com. It was time to start over. Go back to the beginning.
Our beginning was 1998 when online shopping was born…and nobody really trusted it! Even into the early 2000’s online sales weren’t even a category on retail sales reports. This was per-Amazon and per-eBay. So when a guy told me that he would trade me an online store for one of our Sea Eagle PaddleSki kayaks, we hesitated…. and then reluctantly went forward. A few months later we went live! We were on the internet! Monthly sales doubled and then doubled again and life was good..good that is… until early 2017!
In early 2017 we began to search for a WordPress Expert to build us a new home for our antiquated Mom and Pop online boat stare. We started on the internet researching just how to go about building a new website and found that we had already made our first mistake as pointed out on “How to Launch a Brand New Website (With a Bang). Our mistake? Not Starting Sooner!
The author writes….”I’m often asked about the biggest mistakes that I’ve made while starting and running my online businesses. I typically answer with the following:
Not starting sooner.
Thinking about money before serving an audience.
Trying to do everything on my own.
Not immediately starting an email list.
Using a trademark in a domain name.”
My worldwide search for a WordPress Wizard ended in my Arizona Mountain home backyard when we found Tim Lewis and Iron Springs Design
OK now we’re cooking. Find a Website Design Company. Check. Now maybe we’ll just ask then to refresh our 90’s website. it’s not really that bad right? Wrong. How do you know when it’s time for a brand overhaul vs. a brand refresh? Here’s what Tim Lewis the design guru and Head Geek at Iron Springs Design had to say about that thorny subject.
Why Would a Veteran Company Need to Re brand?
We’ve been in business for 19 years, almost two decades! The idea of re-branding your company is scary. .
OK lets cut to the chase. After talking to Iron Springs design (ISD) and reading the ISD Blogs we had ISD build us brand new website. After an awesome amount of brainstorming we put together our list of improvements. Then came prioritizing and committing the time to not only improve the website but to also to improving our company. And to do all this without totally losing our minds.
Take a look! Let us know in the comment section what you think of the 2017 IB4L website.
